CD filesystem format compatibility for HP-UX 10.20 and Windows

What filesystem formats should be used for CDs that are to share data between HP-UX 10.20 and Windows based PCs? Also what formats are supported by HP 10.20?

-Thanks

Re: CD filesystem format compatibility for HP-UX 10.20 and Windows

HP-UX 10.20 will mount almost any legitimate cd filesystem.

It will mount rock ridge with pfs_mount

It will mount windows cd's with cdfs.

The standard cd filesystem that HP ships its CD's on is not easily readable or understood by Microsoft OS's.

Hi!
I thing, after you mount your CD on /cdrom-
directory of HP-UX, you could share it
by using NFS-file system. But you need to have appropriated NFS-client for Windows to access the data.
HP-UX supports HFS,JFS-file systems.

Thanks for the quick responses. If I burned a CD on HP-UX or Windows would ISO 9660 be the best format then to be read on both systems?

yes, the best to use is ISO9660 mode 2 with long filenames.

Re: CD filesystem format compatibility for HP-UX 10.20 and Windows

Hi,

I have a thread about writing CD's for PC and UX without changing file names and characters.

I had to install patches (UX 11) for RockRidge and the tool mkisofs.
pfsmount (and the RockRidge option) is critical (not very stable) as far as I heard.
mkisofs creates an image that can be burned with (for example) Nero at PC. No restictions about special character or multiple points in a name.
One option allows up to 32 characters, another the possibilty to read the RockRidge files also with PC's.
No problem to read CAD files (Pro/E) from CD in UX and M$.
