cde exceed

Hello all,

when starting exceed on a unixserver I get the login screen.
After logging in the window freezes wit "starting the common desktop environment"
I can perform a failsafe loggin however.
Anyone any idea?

From you failsafe login, check the ~/.dt/errorlog for any indication of what the problem might be. You might also want to look at ~/.dt/startlog .

the errorlog is empty and the startlog doesn't tell anything indicating something is going wrong.

Could you check your .dtprofile, last line should be uncommented (DTSOURCEPROFILE=true).

My ip-address is set in the .profile --> export DISPLAY=.....

The last line in .dtprofile is already uncommented.
The strange thing is, another machine with (I think) excactly the same configuration is working ok.
The startlog also is identical.

# mv .dt orig.dt

try again.

That may be a network configuration problem.
Check your network and DNS settings.
Also check /etc/profile.

I'm sorry,

the script produces no errors, just a few warnings. The same as on the working machine.
