Re: CDE Home/Current Session
as to the mechanism I beleive a $HOME/.dt/sessions/current or home never co-exist one gets moved to *.old depending on your preferences, default is a home session.

Re: CDE Home/Current Session
do you know if there are some CDE differences between HPUX 10.20 und HPUX 11 ?
We have both and my problems are on a 10.20...
On this WS i can't get my HOME session setted on an 11.0 !
But if i set the Home session on 10.20, i can get it on 11...
Thx

As to your problem ..."On this WS i can't get my HOME session set on an 11.0 !
But if i set the Home session on 10.20, i can get it on 11... "
Could you describe what commands or actions you have done and also what specifically you are trying to achieve ... not sure I quite understand at present.

Re: CDE Home/Current Session
I can't see how this can be the case, these are different systems and you I presume are loging in locally ... or is there a missing link here .... NFS mounted $HOME's or something similar at all ?

Re: CDE Home/Current Session
i made following observation :
- on my HPUX 10.20 workstation, i set a new HOME SESSION and i log out. Then I log on an HPUX 11 workstation : my home session is called (colors, fonts, dtterms...). Everything's fine !
- on a HPUX 11 workstation, i set a new HOME SESSION and i log out. I log on my HPUX 10.20 workstation : my home session is gone, i have the standard colors and so on...
And the setting on the "set home session" panel is now "return to home session".
It changed automatically !
My goal is : i want that the home session settings are kept on all workstations, independent of the HUPX version of the WS on which i set my HOME SESSION
But actually, i'm not sure if the problem comes from this HPUX version difference or if my workstation is damaged...
thx !

Re: CDE Home/Current Session
yes, the HOME directories of users are mounted on all our workstations (from our server).
That's why my CDE HOME SESSION (in $HOME/.dt) should be everywhere the same and i should be able to change and save it anywhere !
But i have this strange cases... i really don't see why i can't get my HOME SESSION on this 10.20 workstation...
thx

Solutionsee below I suspect this is our man ....
see [PHSS_25787/PACHRDME/English] : CDE Runtime Periodic Patch
1. Buffer overflow in dtspcd.
2. User's session customizations made in 11.x
are not retained in 10.20.
fyi latest 11.00 patch = PHSS_27869

Re: CDE Home/Current Session
a) I'm wrong
b) things go wrong
if it fixes it, role it out to all of them, but remember 10.20 is out of support in a few months anyway .....
