Re: cde login problem

Hi Manikandan

Try this by editing the file /etc/shells. if file is not there create a file and add the entries like
/bin/ksh
/bin/sh
/bin/bash

Check whether the user a/c has a proper shell, if the a/c has not assigned a shell u can't login as the user( some times a/c's man be ftpusers,or some other user with no shells).

Good Luck

Re: cde login problem

Are all users affected ?

How long has this been occuring ?

file core ?

patch levels ? if dtsession were core dumping on hpux I'd certainly want the latest cde patches installed if this were for all users ....

Solaris version ?

OK what happens when you attempt to login ...what exactly do you see ?

from cde login panel options->session ... can you log into any of the alternatives ?

Re: cde login problem

Check the default shell set in /etc/passwd. Also the list of shells in /etc/shells. Check the patchlevels installed ...

Thanks

Re: cde login problem

You also may have to look for duplicate IPs in the network. I think i faced similar problem when i had a duplicate IP in the network.

Re: cde login problem

This is for all users.
This is happening for quite some time.

I was using the failsafe session all these days.

Just thought to troubleshoot it today.

file core gives

core: ELF 32-bit MSB core file SPARC Version 1, from 'dtsession'

also sometimes from 'dtwm'

the dtwm opens and closes out with a core file.

the errors are as above.
Patches are uploaded on the sparc machine.
