Certificateion

I am new to the forum. I have been supporting HPUX on a 9000 for about 9 years. I though it was about time to get some training. Any recommendations about the best approach?

Thanks

Take a look at the following: http://education.hp.com/hp-uxcertification.htm. It gives you a roadmap to obtaining a cert based on your experience level.

Re: Certificateion

HP Certified by Rehman.

Learn the book, make sure you no networking and NIS even if you don't use NIS.

That and nine years of admin will make the test a breeze.

Re: Certificateion

I think you probably know HPUX very well, atleast system admin tasks and hardware.
I would suggest you to go for training in MC/Serviceguard, Veritas VolumeManager and Scripting. These are very essential for a sys admin.
I did HP certification last year and i am okay with basic sysadmin activities. i am planning to do advanced sysadmin certifications too. If you want to do some certification, you can go for Certified Systems Admin - HP-UX

I was just like you, HP-UX since 1993, Got Certified in September on HP-UX as well as MC/Serviceguard.

Rehman's HP Certified book,

hp mc/serviceguard II (H4310S)

Write the exam,

Exam Name: HP-UX System Administration

then take:

Re: Certificateion

I have been supporting HP-UX for about the same time ,and the training a recieved was based on the companies needs; mostly 3rd party applications, and such. I only suggest training for signifigant changes in your enviroment. For example, I just took on support of a Superdome. So, I will receive training for that. But, if you have been supporting HP-UX for that long, a basic administration class would be a waste of time.
