'chacl' command in Vxfs file system

Now I am using HP 9000/N4000 server, HP-UX 11.00, I tried to use "chacl" command to change the access rights to the files. But I got the error message " Founction is not available (errno = 251) ". I already installed JFS 3.3, but I still got the same error message.

Re: 'chacl' command in Vxfs file system

On which file system did you run this command?
I believe chacl is not a useable command on a vxfs ACL.
You should be using setacl.
Have you vxupgraded the file system to version 4 layout, providing it is one of those allowed as per the Release Notes:

Re: 'chacl' command in Vxfs file system

From what i've hear 11.00 and VxFS something reguarding acl has been changed or taken out?

I know i was able to set a sticky bit on 11.00 with VxFS and it worked fine, that was my original concern
and i've called HP support asking if anything was changed and they could not come up with anything
Since we are running 90% of our servers on 10.20 but will upgrade to 11.00 someday
i am very curious about his

Re: 'chacl' command in Vxfs file system

Hello Annie,

you will need to (buy and) install the new JFS Release 3.3
to be able to use ACLs on an VxFS! It was only available
for HFS, but not for VxFS prior to 3.3!
See "http://software.hp.com" for more information.
