Hi,
This might be a real "off-the-wall" question, but we just had a Controller Issue on a system and the whole Controller was swapped out by Hardware Support to get the system healthy again.
Consequently, it seems the HOSTID changed on this system, adversely effecting the Licensing of the Apps we have running.
MY QUESTION:
Rather than asking for a bunch of new seperate licenses.... Is it possible to change the HOSTID on a HP-UX 11.0 system back to what it used to be or does the Hardware dictate how this is read and it's not dynamic?
Thanks,
-KPS

Re: Change a HostID??
Ken,
I believe the Hardware Support folks are the ones who are able to (and should have) change(d) the HOSTID.

Solution
I assume that you are talking about the machine identification number as reported by uname -i. When a systemboard is installed, your HP Mr. Goodwrench should have run a utility (that you don't have) that asks for the machine model and serial number. These values are then used to calculate the identication number. Call your HP Mr. Goodwrench.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
