change comment field of NIS users
I have a task to change the comment field of NIS users. whats is the way to do it, I am using master nis password file /etc/passwd.ois containing 500+ users
Whether it requires downtime or not?
System is HPUX 11

Hi Prysak,
the program chfn is the standard way to change the GECOS information - I assume you mean this field of then passwd information.
chfn -r nis
is supported - look at
http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-90689/chfn.1.html
If your yppasswd daemon is not configured to ignore change requests from chfn, every change will be propagated seperatly.
