change netmask

Hi all !

I need change netmask to /24 from /23 in cluster environment, what this steps to the job

You need to compose this question in a language that we have in common.

Netmask: 255.255.255.0 Class C, pretty common.

Changing netmask is likely to bring down the cluster though since high availability depends on floating IP addresses to provide services.

Anywhere networking is configured, you need to make sure you change the subnet mask.

This can /etc/rc.config.d/netconf and any of your cluster package configuration files in /etc/cmcluster/.

You would need to edit the files and change the subnet mask from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.254.0.

You also need to make sure your default route is correct since this may change with the subnet mask change. Also verify that all networking ports are set up correctly and in the correct subnet.

(for those unfamiliar the /24 type notation for a subnet mask is called CIDR notation and indicates the number of bits in the subnet mask.

- Change the IP address in /etc/rc.config.d/netconf on all nodes.
- configure interfaces (/sbin/init.d/net start)
- Stop all cluster packages
- delete cluster configuration (cmdeleteconf)
- change cluster ascii configuration if necessary
- apply new cluster configuration (cmapplyconf)
