change passwd message

Hi, does anyone know where the change password message is located that is displayed when password aging has been implemented? eg. 'Your password will expire in 3 days, do you want to change it now' - As I would like to change this to something more direct to force the user into changing it there and then ie. 'Change your passwd NOW!!!'
Thanks,
C

Re: change passwd message

I suggest that you try this:

strings /usr/bin/login > /tmp/myfile

If you examine /tmp/myfile, I think you will find your answer. Of course, you can always do your own login program.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: change passwd message

Why bother beacuse the user will be FORCED to change their password when it expired anyway, just let the system take care of it.

Re: change passwd message

In my experience, it has alway been more productive to have a management-backed policy in place rather than to only rely on draconian automated processes for issues such as passwords and security. They key is to get your clients' management on board with the idea of that it is *their* data that is being secured rather than have them think it is just their staff that is being inconvenienced.
