uucp removal
Hi
I am trying to remove uucp from a HP-UX11.00 server as we don't use it and it is a security risk.
However in the analysis in swremove the logfile complains about removing it and the following error is in the logfile:
* The fileset "SystemComm.SYSCOM,l=/,r=B.11.00" requires the selected fileset "UUCP.UUCP,l=/,r=B.11.00" as a corequisite.
What is SystemComm and more importantly what are the consequences of removing uucp on it or possibly removing both of them??
Cheers Barbara.

Re: uucp removal
Hi Barbara
UUCP is unix to Unix copy genrally uses the serial ports of 2 unix machines , it is a simple program which makes you connect between 2 serial ports using cu if confugred , the Syscomm my guess should be the interace to interact with the uucp and the Kernel Devices , thought it should not effect any thing I would prefer not to remove this as UUCP is not a big package and come in really handy if you cant get teh machines to talk on Lan ettc , it amy be used by MC servicegaurd too , but the dependencies would be told befroe you delete it.

Re: uucp removal
Just change the name on the binary.
mv /usr/sbin/uucpd /usr/sbin/save-this-uucpd
mv /usr/sbin/uucpd /usr/sbin/save-this-uucpd
