The OpenPA project
We downloaded a Linux ISO image for a G-class, D-class and a K-class. I think we managed to get them all to boot, but we couldnt get linux up and running and stable. But the new iso images may be a lot more reliable now so I would give it a try.

Re: Change the HP server to other OS
How about this?
http://www.netbsd.org/Ports/hp700/
But I cannot tell to what extend thier HP port works since I've never tried it myself.
You don't really have HP hardware standing around at home to play with.

Re: Change the HP server to other OS
You've been asking questions on the forum since January, so I'd say you're being a bit modest saying that you're new - 6 months is a long time in sys admin!
What model of server have you got? You may be able to install PA-RISC Linux on it.
Ollie.
