Change the NTP syncronize interval

How do we change the time interval between a client tries to syncronize with the NTP server.
In ntp.conf I have the following entry
server 128.8.10.1 prefer
This is entry makes my server to check every 3 mintues with the NTP server. I would like to change the time to 1/2 hour.

In the ntp.conf file you can add the statement
minpoll 10
It looks like this will be 32 minutes according to the man page.
