Change to swap space

When I installed HP-UX 11.0 I mistakenly set the swap to "swap + dump". Is there a way to reconfigure this to just swap without a reinstall of the os?

Re: Change to swap space

hi,

have a look at "lvlnboot" to define your dump volume, and primary swap, etc...

good luck,
Thierry.
All unix flavours are exactly the same . . . . . . . . . . for end users anyway.

Re: Change to swap space

You don't need to reinstall the OS for this issue. I guess even you don't require to reboot the system to define the another drive as a dump device. Because the system dump the core files(if it crash) when it reboots. So you can define another drive as a dump device. When it reboots next time it will be active.

Use the lvlnboot command to define the dump device.

Oops ... I forgot to ask you once... Why don't you keep the swap device as a dump device? Why do you want to waste another drive by assiging as a dump device?

Re: Change to swap space

Hi,

I dont think that you can change it without reinstalling the OS. But you can keep it the way it is configured since the dump space is only used during a crash and normally the crash files are stored in the /var/adm/crash directory.
