Re: Changing HP-UX Server Date & Time

Generally, changing the time forward doesn't affect the server and Oracle Services. You can use SAM-->Time to do this.
If you have the test server, you may plan to test it on that.

Re: Changing HP-UX Server Date & Time

I suppose it would not affect anything because you are increasing time if u are putting time back then from oracle point of view , there could be problems.
You just have to take care of crontab.
I would say if smthin imp is there in crontab , shut cron down change time and restart cron.
hope this help.

Re: Changing HP-UX Server Date & Time

hi,

Opting for a gradual and progressive change would be a better option.

i.e. increase the time by 5 mins every hour.

As already mentioned, changing the time backwards would require a shutdown of the SAP application server but rolling it forwards is rather safe.

You can use either SAM or set_parms.

e.g.
set_parms date_time

This allows the user to set the system date and time interactively. The change takes effect immediately.

kind regards

Re: Changing HP-UX Server Date & Time

setting time foward on a live server badly effects users as they immediately receive the date and time huge difference errors while loggon into SAP.

i down the SAP instances, down the database and cluster then update the time of two ap servers and one db servers then start the cluster.

now it works fine

Thanks a lot
