Changing IP address of DTC 16RX

We have a dtc 16rx connected to one of our HP-UX machines which the network folks want to move to a different subnet. I have to change the IP address and don't have a manual or much documentation from my predecessor. Is rdtcmodify the command I should be reading more about to do this? Are there any manuals available? Is there a way to update the dtc's configuration if the host machine cannot talk to it (by connecting a terminal to port x or something)?

TIA,
Joe

Re: Changing IP address of DTC 16RX

They want to move it to a different subnet???!!!

I hope it's bridged or your DTC is going suddenly going to become invisible to the computer. Better sit down with your network people, a set of the manuals and a dictionary so they can look up any big words that confuse them.

When a DTC is powered on it broadcasts its MAC address and asks "does anybody know who I am?" if the computer can hear the broadcast it responds and downloads the configuration. Key phrase here being "if it can hear it".

Re: Changing IP address of DTC 16RX

DTC 16RX does support routing, thas ok to change its IP. It gets its configuration file via tftp.

Long time since I last played with it, so I apologize for lack of details.

You change dtc?s ip through its physical console. Connect the HP cable(provided with dtc) in console port, set terminal as vt100 at 9600bps/8bit/no-parity and power cycle dtc. You will get an interface where you can change the IP.

From the server side you probably have to change IP info wherever it appears.
Don?t forget to change name service too.
God bless pessimists, they did the backup!

You change dtc?s ip through rdtcmodify command:
rdtcmodify dtc_name
You will see the Rear Panel Configuration screen.
Select L for LAN and Action Key(F5)
Change the desired values and save.

You also need to modify DTC node name and DTC IP address through its physical console. Connect the HP cable(provided with dtc) in console port, set terminal as vt100 at 9600bps/8bit/no-parity and power cycle dtc. You will get an interface where you can change the IP.

Reset your DTC and you are done!
