Changing network card speed
Do we need to do
#/sbin/init.d/net stop|start
after we change the speed of network card using lanadmin.

Re: Changing network card speed
When you change the speed & duplex settings there will be a minor disconnection from the network , the system will be again up and running on the network

Re: Changing network card speed
I don't think you need to do that but if the nfs timeout time is on higher side and you don't have any 100% network dependent application you can do the stop and start.
But it's not mandatory.

Re: Changing network card speed
As soon as you change the speed using lanadmin it is straight away reflected.
have a look using
lanadmin -x PPA
Cheers

Re: Changing network card speed
# lanadmin -X 1000FD 0
There will be a short delay of about 10 seconds, but the sessions are not lost.

Re: Changing network card speed
If its a cluster, i strongly recommend you switch the package to another node before you that. But this also depends on your config.
If you change the speed to a forced value, and the port config. from the switch's side is not configured the same, lan interface will drop till they are both matched.

Re: Changing network card speed
it is not needed to stop/start network services.
Just launch
# lanadmin -X 100FD 0
or change 100FD with a supported speed for your network card.
Anyway could you please conclude threads that you launch in a way that future searches on the same problem can have a solution?
I see that you launch several threads but few ones have a solution.
Thanks for you precious collaboration to do ITRC forum more reliable!
Best regards,
Fabio
