Changing password for Admin console of iPlanet Web Server

Hi,

I forgot the amdin password of iplanet web server 4.1 running on hpux.
Can anyone suggest how to reset it ?

Hi,

The Admin username and password (encrypted) are kept in "admpw" file. You can edit this and delete the encrypted password for the admin user. Then you can specify new password in Server Manager Forms.

Hi Shiv,

To change the superuser settings for the Administration Server, perform the following steps:

1. Access the Administration Server and choose the Preferences tab.

2. Click the Superuser Access Control link.

3. Make the desired changes and click OK.

The superuser's user name and password are kept in a file called server_root/https-admserv/config/admpw. If you forget the user name, you can view this file to obtain the actual name; however, note that the password is encrypted and unreadable. The file has the format username:password. If you forget the password, you can edit the admpw file and simply delete the encrypted password. You can then go to the Server Manager forms and specify a new password.

I got admin console of the web server by removing the password field from the admpw file. Now wanted to create the CSR. It is asking me the old "Key Pair File Password:". I tried to create a new database and it is saying the "Trust Database Arleady Exist".

We arleady have a site running using the ssl and i just wanted to renew the ssl.
