changing the O/S version from 11.i to 11.0

We have a rp7400 test (loaner) box coming in and it is loaded with HP-UX 11.i.
Because of the apps we are running I need to install HP-UX 11.0.
Can someone provide me with tips on doing this and any 'gotchas' I need to be aware of.
As always, points will be gratefully given.
Thanks,
Andy

Hi,

Quickest way !
Just install from core OS CD 11.00 !

Or do you have a exactly same system with 11.00 installation ? If so use Ignite to clone the system.

Couldn't you just use a make_recovery from your 11.0 - system and clone it?

make_tape_recovery -vA -I

Then interact with the recovery and change any system information you would need to change?
Then you could load data from a fbackup taken from your 11.0 system.

I guess it depends on how many apps you have, for us, cloning is less time-consuming then reloading the OS and re-loading all our apps.

Re: changing the O/S version from 11.i to 11.0

Hi Andy,

The installation will be simple if you do a fresh cold installation from 11.0 CDs. But I think, you may have to order the CDs seperately, as it may come with the 11.i CDs and applications. Also, the root disk, file systems sizes will be different when you configure 11.0. I would suggest you to check the following before you delete the 11.i:

1) OS and application CDs
2) File system layout
3) swlist output ( to find out any additional software for LAN cards, core-enhancement etc)
4) Codewords for applications
5) SWC configuration
