cifsclient pam_ntlm and password cache

I'm having a problem with pam_ntlm. It works fine for authentication. All users can log in just fine. It doesn't eliminate the need for cifslogin however. User still have to use cifslogin to access cifsclient mount points.

Any Idea what I have missed?

Re: cifsclient pam_ntlm and password cache

Hi Michael,

I haven't actually tried this myself, but the CIFS client documentation does suggest that this should work.

"Successful user/password authentications are cached for use by the CIFS client" (Chapter 8 of the CIFS client manual.)

Have you mapped the users correctly between the HP-UX user names and the NT logins?

regards,

Darren.

Re: cifsclient pam_ntlm and password cache

Darren,

I shouldn't need a map. I'm actually using LDAP-UX and windows 2000 as the source for my user IDs so the names are all the same. I had this working a few months back, but it doesn't seem to work any more. I may just have to uninstall and start over fresh if I can't figure out what broke.
