Re: Clone server using Make_tape_recovery with diferent capacity.
it can be done , if the server are the same , this will not be a problem .
but ... you need to remember that you can boot from a tape on itanium system , use this prod. to boot the clone system and to restore the info from a make_tape_recovery tape .
the easy way to do it is with make_net_recovery but you will need to setup a ignite server for that .

Re: Clone server using Make_tape_recovery with diferent capacity.
The real case is:
I have a server with vg00 has three 72Gb disks.
I am goping to change this disks for another three of 142gb capacity.
But when I recover the system in the 142Gb disks, ¿Are the vg00 recognize the 142Gb disk? Or it is going to show 72Gb disks.
And another question, ¿what will the Max PE per PV be, with default is 4328?
I would like to chage it in order to used all the space.

Re: Clone server using Make_tape_recovery with diferent capacity.
If you are not restoring to IDENTICAL hardware - as you will not be, then the restore process can be tailored to your requirements. e.g ....
boot p1 - to boot from the tape.
When prompted with "Interact with IPL (Y,N, or Cancel)?>" type n.
To customise the install process then interrupt it a short while later when it prompts with "Press
This is required, for instance, if restoring to a machine with different hard disk sizes from the original.
You are then allow to setup the machine as you wish before continuing the restore.
Can't answer your PE enquiry I'm afraid.

Garry

Re: Clone server using Make_tape_recovery with diferent capacity.
but all the 3 disks(146GB) will be used( because of /etc/lvmtab from source machine) apart from that out of 146GB in each disk only 72 GB will be used.

SolutionWhen restoring vg00 will be created so it will make use of the entire disk.
