Solution
It is a monitoring service which will determine any potential probelems to the Applications. I don't think you would need if you configure the packages oroperly.

Re: cluster consistency groups
Its tool for spotting potential cluster disruptions and checking configuration differences within the cluster nodes .
Its an additional paid service to HP .
If the cluster is configured properly you properly don't need .
There is another free product called service guard manager that can give you a gui based view of all your clusters and alerts .
If you don't want to pay , service guard manager is better .

Re: cluster consistency groups
This is a service you pay for, that gets set up AFTER your cluster is stable, and it then regularly checks to ensure the nodes in the cluster stay consistent.
For example, if someone were to make a change to a control script on one node, and forget to distribute it to the ohter nodes, you would be notified that there was an inconsistency, allowing you to fix it before a possible failure occurred due to the inconsistency.
It has nothing to do with Serviceguard Manager, and they are completely different products.
SGMGR will NOT do any consistency checking.
