cmapplyconf looking for duplicate IP

I am planning a migration of packages from one box to another. I hope to start a new cluster which will run packages currently running on another cluster. Will I be able to run "cmapplyconf" and start the cluster so long as I don't start the packages?

Re: cmapplyconf looking for duplicate IP

Stuart,

do you mean just the virtual IP address(es), or do you want to move the nodes IP addresses to the new cluster as well?

If you are just moving the virtual IP then yes, you will be able to do this - remember that cmapplyconf just updates the binary with the cluster conf file and the package conf file... neither of these have the virtual IP address in them (although the package conf file does contain the subnet of the virtual IP). The actual virtual IP is in the package control file which is only accessed when the package starts. Just remember to NOT start the package.

However if you are taking the node Ip addresses as well, then you won't be able to do this, as these are listed in the cluster conf file and are checked when the package is applied.

Duncan,

Yes the virtual IP for the package.

Thanks for the confirmation.
