Be careful with Fibre cards as 11i will not support the earlier cards.

Also check if the installed HW needs special driver software.
Indeed for example the Lan cards like Paula mentioned, but another example is MUX EISA/PCI drivers etc.
Also first install the OS, and then the drivers. Do not select the drivers during the install phase.
This all is depending on the HW we are talking about. (model etc.)
