Compatibility Question

I am running an HP-UX 11.00 system running the VxFS filesystem and I want to have a client workstation running SuSE 8.0 with the Reiser filesystem mount several NFS drives. Is there a compatibility issue between the two filesystems? Thanks.

Re: Compatibility Question

Any file systems you share between these systems, are going to be NFS.

Make sure you use same same nfs versions.
And upto date on HP-ux NFS pacthes.

Re: Compatibility Question

The client workstation filesysem is irrelavent.

NFS is a type of filesystem, specified at mount time.

You may run into some issues with esoteric commands that only work on your local filesystem not working on the NFS mount.

Basic operations such as cp,mkdir,mv etc will work just fine depending on permissions.
