Configuration of Volume Groups to SAN

I need to get familiar with very quickly is the configuration of Volume Groups and how they have Alternate Paths to the disk. This is accomplished through the use of software called PowerPath that load-balances the I/O to the disk across multiple Fibre Channel adapters to the SAN and on to the EMC storage frame. I have several file system requests that I need to begin working on.

Please suggest me which book I should prefer?
tell me the URL of study material from where I can study and Implement it as soon as possible

Using your support contract identifier with EMC you should have a login for powerlink.emc.com

Once in here you can select those documents that will assist you with your task

Sorry Vipin:

Unaware of where else the documents would be.

(You are a customer of EMC with a support contract. Do you have one?)

Re: Configuration of Volume Groups to SAN

Hi Vipin,

You need to install the PowerPath on the host first before you do anything. Once it is installed and rebooted there is nothing special that you would do. Do "powermt display all" and make sure that for each power disk you do see the different alternate paths.

When you do configure the VGs you need to use the power disks rather than the HP-UX created disks. PowerPath works under the LVM layer and hence the load balancing and redundancy is taken care by PowerPath.Let me know if this helped or need more help with this ?
