Re: Configure 100Mbit / 10Mbit
Did you manage to get the right driver loaded? Is the card recognized by ioscan? It sounds to me like the card is not marked "claimed" in your "ioscan -fnClan" output.

Re: Configure 100Mbit / 10Mbit
You can set the card speed to 100MB using lanadmin command. It is a menu drive utility in which after selecting the correct PPA number you should be alse to change speed setting.

Re: Configure 100Mbit / 10Mbit
your card seems to be the EISA 100VG AnyLAN adapter card. So 10mbit works, but you'll need special 100VG-AnyLAN hardware to make this work.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Configure 100Mbit / 10Mbit
Match ioscan, lanscan outputs and compare the hardware paths. Here you have two PPA no. 0 & 1 I think 1 should be for your EISA card confirm it with its hardware path in "ioscan -fnC lan" output. Its hardware path should be 20/5/4.

Re: Configure 100Mbit / 10Mbit
If hardware path for it in "ioscan -fnC lan" is 20/5/4 then its PPA no. is 1 as shown in lanscan outout.
Also does it have different ports for 10 and 100MBPS connection ?

Re: Configure 100Mbit / 10Mbit
you also can check and set it with SAM.
(If you're not so good in pure hp-ux, same like me)
'sam' - Networking and Communications - Network Interface Cards
There you can enable the right card and also set the right speed - sometimes it's better to switch autonegotiation off.

Re: Configure 100Mbit / 10Mbit
You need to purchase a J3516A 100Mbit LAN card for your D-class system to run at 100Mbits on a standard 100Base-T network.

Re: Configure 100Mbit / 10Mbit
What D model is it?
The correct PPA would be the one that matches your EISA card since the other one can only be 10MB...
e.g:
alphard # /usr/sbin/ioscan -funC lan
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
========================================================================
lan 0 8/4/1/0 btlan4 CLAIMED INTERFACE HP J3515A HSC 10/100Base-TX D-Class 1 port
lan 1 8/16/6 lan2 CLAIMED INTERFACE Built-in LAN
/dev/diag/lan1 /dev/ether1
alphard # model
9000/813/D230
So here it is lan0
All the best

Re: Configure 100Mbit / 10Mbit
Error: This option is not supported for this hardware.
So i guess with that card i cannot achive 100Mbit speed?

Re: Configure 100Mbit / 10Mbit
lan 1 20/5/4 vglan0 CLAIMED INTERFACE EISA card HWP1990
I'm sure you can stop at this point. It's a VG-AnyLAN card - not compatible to your network, unless you have an old VG-AnyLAN switch.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Configure 100Mbit / 10Mbit
It seems to be a compatibility issue only and looks like it is not going to work at 100MB.
But finally also check by assigning a IP to this card and setting switch port where you are connecting to 100MB.
Allthough there are rare chances.

Devender
