Configuring A PCI 1000Base-T Ethernet card

Hello All,

We have a system running HP-UX 11.00. I plan on installing a 1 GB Ethernet card. The card being used is a PCI 1000Base-T card.

What driver should I use and where can I get that?

Thanks in advance to all replies!

Regards,

Suren is it the A6825 card? If it is, the driver is on the first app cd and the driver is named A6825A.

Re: Configuring A PCI 1000Base-T Ethernet card

I think it is the A6825A card.

A note that came with the box gives the installation info as follows:
1. Install March 2002 QPK1100 bundle.
2. Apply PHNE_26250, PHCO_25902 pre-req patches.
3. Install J4240AA from March 2002 Application Release.

When I saw the A6825A bundle in the app CD, I was confused. Is there any documentation online that describes the installation procedure?

Re: Configuring A PCI 1000Base-T Ethernet card

I'm trying to think back a little while ago when I did this. It looks like PHNE_27201 was also recommended to be installed according to my notes. I believe I tried to install that PHNE patch but the driver I was installing was newer then the patch, so it never was installed.

After the installation there are several options including changing the default route and others that are in the directory /etc/rc.config.d/ in the netconf file. Conversely sam will allow you to configure the interface when the driver is installed.

If you would prefer the 1000Base-T card to become the main interface rather than a 100 MB I can tell you it makes life faster.
Personally, I prefer fibre, but take speed where it can be found.

Which bundle should I use? Is it A4240AA or A6825A?

Suren,

Since the installation info mentions the J4240AA, I'd go with that.

I agree with Pete, unless your certain you have the card I was talking about. I would go with what the directions tell you.

My cards came without instructions or anything. So I had to call HP for my info. The cards on the back did have a little white sticker that did say what the HP model number was.
