All,
I am trying to configure an EPSON printer in the HPUX 11i spooler.
hppi doesn't see the printer, can not ping from the application, but i can ping it from unix.
I tried to configure it from sam as a remote printer, but the spooler appears to get confused.
Any suggestions?

Solution
Hi Nick,
How is the printer connecting to network? With network card?, jetdirect?, or behind a Network host?
Remote printer choice in SAM is use if printer is sharing and manging by another host. Prefer network printer if printer is directly connect to network.

Re: Configuring Epson FX-890 with built in Lan Connection
Hi Nick,
the built in print server in your printer must support lpd. First you must configure lpd in the print server and then configure HP-UX to use remote printer.
Regards,
Zygmunt

Re: Configuring Epson FX-890 with built in Lan Connection
Gents,
I solved this by doing the following:
I went into hppi and added it to the print queues.
It complained that it could not connect to the printer, however it did say that it could ping it.
I continued - anyway and selected DUmp printer/plotter with CR and it appears to work.
Thanks, I will assign points to you both.
