I have to pu my 2 cents worth in here. Up untill I found the itrc forum, a little over two years ago, I thought I knew something about HPUX. I didn't know Sh_t compared to some of you guys here. I can't tell you how many times I have had problems and searched the forum to find exactly what I was looking for. It has saved me countless hours fixing problems. And while I haven't asked that many questions, I learned early in life that you don't have to know all of the answers, you just have to know where to look. And this forum has been my number one go to place for accurate and consise answers.

First, Thanks to HP for hosting us and providing such great personnel to support us, like Dan and all the developers and anyone else in the background.

But foremost, congrats to all who've participated, who've asked the questions, gotten the answers, AND ASSIGNED THE POINTS!!!

What amazes me, is the fact that, if you add up the scores of the top 25 on the home page, the total is only around 200,000 points. There's another 800,000 points out there. That is one hell of alot of knowledge sharing.

Very impressive. I saw Merijn???s little posts regarding the million point mark, but never really put much thought in it until now.

When you consider that the highest point value that can be awarded any one answer is 10, then that means that if every answer out there were given a perfect score we would have over 100,000 answers! Since we know that not every answer is given a perfect score, I have to wonder just exactly how many answers it took to get to this point. How about it Merijn? Any chance your magical touch with the stats can provide us with an insight to this? :-)

I guess it doesn???t matter in the long run. What really matters is the amount of dedication and sharing it has taken from the community as a whole to reach this milestone. Even though my contribution has been light compared to some, I am still proud to be a part of this.

Now, if we are REALLY the technical geeks we claim to be, we wouldn't
be quite so excited about reaching 1,000,000 points. No, we would be
waiting for a real milestone of 1,048,576 points. Why? That value
is:

400000 in octal

I once asked Merijn about the possibility of finding out who had the most responses to questions (my guess is Dan by a long shot - and I think he may be the winner in this category as well). Merijn declined, saying it was outside the scope of his statistics.

Ahh well, we'll probably never know.
