Connecting Sata Array to fiber

Is there a support matrix for supported fiber attached storage. We are trying to directly attach a NEXSAN sataBeast via fiber. Dong an fcsmutil /dev/fcd10 show the port online but I am not able to see the disk that was mapped. As anyone ever attached a lowend disk array to hpux itanium server with 4 GB fiber channel cards

Might be helpful to know the extact model number of the low end disk array.

Easy answer, HP-UX probably will not support and detect this. The OS and drivers are designed specifically.

Knowning the HP-UX version might be helpful.

If it works:
insf -C disk
insf -e

ioscan -fnC disk

See if anything new is detected.

the insf and ioscan's show nothing new. The lowend disk is a NEXSAN SATABEAST with 40 1TB sata disk drives. I created a 2 TB disk from the sataBeast and presented it to the HP-UX fiber port WWN. The HP is running HP-UX 11.31

Also, this sata disk will not be used for production applications. I will be used for temporary oracle export files and such.

It's possible you used the incorrect WWN when presenting the disk.

When looking at information for the card you should see a "Node WWN" and a "Port WWN." If you presented the disk to one of the WWNs and it didn't work, try the other one.

The SATABeast arrays are very nice products. I'm using one on a Linux system and it works great!

Good suggestion but the management GUI for the satabeast picks up th port WWN and does not give me the option to pick the node WWN.

I have several HP-UX servers with various HP disk arrays attached and I have to use the "Node WWN" on those arrays, which I just verified.

The SATABeast may behave differently, but I would try using the "Node WWN" and see if that works for you.

You can only use arrays that support hp-ux due to the addressing mode. Ask the vendor, if the array supports hp-ux.

Thank you for you suggestions. From what I gather the storage array has to support HP-UX or it will not work.
