Might be helpful to know the extact model number of the low end disk array.
Easy answer, HP-UX probably will not support and detect this. The OS and drivers are designed specifically.
Knowning the HP-UX version might be helpful.
If it works:
insf -C disk
insf -e
ioscan -fnC disk
See if anything new is detected.
Do you want to rely on this setup?

When looking at information for the card you should see a "Node WWN" and a "Port WWN." If you presented the disk to one of the WWNs and it didn't work, try the other one.
The SATABeast arrays are very nice products. I'm using one on a Linux system and it works great!

The SATABeast may behave differently, but I would try using the "Node WWN" and see if that works for you.
