Connection reset by peer

Although this message sort of makes sense, I always wonder what it means.

It is currently appearing from some JD Edwards software we've got, but on the old machine (HPUX 10.20) it appeared in the syslog, which makes me think it is an operating system message.

If anyone can make this make a little more sense to me I would be most grateful.

My understanding goes it as a "Idle time out"

I could see in idle ftp sessions

We do seem to be getting quite alot of them, people don't seem to call up about it though (and they do call if they notice a problem).
