Hi all,

I am trying to load a full set of reccomended patches on a new server. There are about 280 patches.
I have copied the depot to tape for the load to save disk space. Swinstall sees all the files on the tape and allows me to mark and analyze.

When I try to continue with the load after analysis, I get the following error. I have looked at the other messages posted for the problem with no luck. The automounter is off.

The controller has lost communication with the agent on the target "dbumegan:/", probably because of a networking problem or the target agent timing out due to extended inactivity. The task cannot be completed and the target has been automatically excluded. You cannot obtain "Product Summary" or "Logfile" information on this target.

I have had this problem happen before, not with as many patches as you were installing, but I went into the install options, and selected the two options to reinstall even if the patches/filesystems exist. Wortked like a charm.

Hi Craig,

swinstall -x agent_auto_exit=false might help.

If not, try also adding -x rpc_binding_info=ncacn_ip_tcp:[2121] to swinstall command.
