Re: Copy Jet direct printers to another system

There is a command "transferqueue" in HP to transfer the queues to other Server. Do man transferqueue. It will give you details abt what to do.

Re: Copy Jet direct printers to another system

Hi Aaron

To Migrate printers all you have to do is

1. SAM--->Printers and Plotters --> LP Spooler ---->Sve/Restore Configuration.-->save configeration.

2. the configeration is restored in /var/adm/lp .

3.Compress the files under it and ftp it to the new server.

4. Restore Lp config .

You are good to go.

Re: Copy Jet direct printers to another system

Thanks guys! I was doing well until I typed rm /var/spool/lp/request /*/*

Yup, that's a space between request and / Gonna be a long night

Re: Copy Jet direct printers to another system

Oh man Aaron..that's painful!
Next to the last step.....
I feel for you buddy.

Hope you got a good recovery tape & full/incremental fbackup tapes.

This is a good reason why some admins alias the rm command to rm -i.
Gives you notice before all hell breaks loose.

Rgds & Good Luck,
Jeff
