corrupted member file

I have been fine adding printers up until this week. I go to SAM and add a printer then it says "corrupted member file" so I went to /etc/lp/member and the new printer is there with a 0 byte count. I VI the file and set it to /dev/null - then it shows up in PRINTERS and PLOTTERS in SAM but says NOT enabled. I try to enable it and it says it's already enabled.... looplooploop

Any ideas???

Re: corrupted member file

Have you checked the ownership and permissions of the printer files? You could run samlog_viewer. It might have some error information. I would also use the command line to check it out instead of sam. What does lpstat -pprinter show? You could also disable and enable from the command line. These might provide more info than through sam.

ou could also delete the printer and add it again.

Re: corrupted member file

I ended up recreating a few of the directories in /etc/lp - I had to remove about half of my printers and add them back in. Ended up being at work about 3 hours later than usual. Thanks for the help :)
