I'm new to HP-UX. I just type /usr/sbin/swlist -l product to see installed software. I got the following error Initializing...
# Contacting target "eshps015"...
ERROR: Could not contact host "eshps015". Make sure the hostname is
correct and an absolute pathname is specified (beginning with
"/").
ERROR: More information may be found in the daemon logfile on this
target (default location is
eshps015:/var/adm/sw/swagentd.log).
any suggestion wellcome

Re: Could not contact host
WHat happens when you try to look up your local host with DNS? Is your DNS server up?

Re: Could not contact host
If you dont use DNS , check there is a proper
entry for eshps015 in /etc/hosts
eg:-
10.2.2.1 eshps015
Can you do this ?.
#ping eshps015

Re: Could not contact host
do a
#nslookup eshps015
check whether it is getting resolved.
check your /etc/resolv.conf file for the proper DNS server name and make sure that your machine has a entry on the DNS server.
If you are not using the name service then
you can move this /etc/resolv.conf file
and
stop and start the
swagentd
Thanks
