Could not load graphics card drivers into kernel

Dear All,

I have a graphic card AB551A graphics card installed to an rp3440 with its drivers.
However the driver was not properly installed.

I seccessfully removed the driver manually. But the problem arose when I was reloading it again.

Meantime I was able to reload the gvid driver into kernel, but gvid_info which is selectable could not load, and therefore could not continue my installation.

Can you please advise how can we load a selectable driver to be loadable or how the selectable driver becomes loadable? Because the first time I have installed the gvid driver and graphic card into this server the gvid_info driver automatically became loadable.

Thanks for your prompt help!

Re: Could not load graphics card drivers into kernel

Hi Robert,

I understand this fact, but my problem is that I cannot load the gvid_info in order for it to be loadable instead of selectable.

Please comment that if the patch was installed before the graphic card was physically installed intop the server has any effect.

Please also note that the server is not at my place, it is for one of our customers, this is why i am asking all these questions.

Re: Could not load graphics card drivers into kernel

Did you read the manual?

It says:

"...
In order to be able to use graphics on an HP-UX server, the kernel must have the gvid module configured in
it. This will happen automatically if you have graphics hardware present in the machine while system
software is initially installed. Installing an ATI RADEON 7500 display card will ensure this. So will any
machine with built-in graphics.
But some machines may have optional graphics. If you install the system software without any graphics
present, the gvid module will not be configured into the kernel."

So first install the card, then the patch.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
