Couldn't query physical volume after mirroring boot disk.

Hi.

I have gone through the instructions for mirroring an Itanium (Integrity rx2620) boot disk. This seemed to go without problems until I checked boot disks with: lvlnboot -v. Here's the message I get:

Couldn't query physical volume "/dev/dsk/c2t0d0":
The specified path does not correspond to physical volume attached to this volume group

If I check /etc/vmconf/vg00.conf I can see 3 entries:

/dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s2
/dev/rdsk/c2t0d0
/dev/rdsk/c2t0d0s2

Am I right in thinking the middle entry of c2t0d0 should not be there? The other two entries are the boot disk (c2t1d0s2) & mirror boot disk (c2t0d0s2) - these seem correct.

When I use sam to look at the VGs I notice that 3 physical volumes are listed in VG00 when there should only be 2.

Do I need to make a change to vg00.conf?

Thanks.

Do NOT modify that file...

Instead, run
vgcfgbackup vg00

Re: Couldn't query physical volume after mirroring boot disk.

You created the entry while you mirror the disk in a wrong way

(see Problems mirroring a boot disk in 11.23 thread)

Now check what "strings /etc/lvmtab" and "vgdisplay -v" gives and try to remove the entry "vgreduce -f vg00".

Hope this helps!

Try vgreduce -f vg00 or vgreduce -l vg00 /dev/dsk/c2t0d0 to fix the issue.

It should remove the missing PV .

Re: Couldn't query physical volume after mirroring boot disk.

Followed advice given to:
vgreduce -f vg00

Then saved, removed & recreated /etc/lvmtab, did vgscan -v & vgcfgbackup vg00.

Now lvlnboot -v displays both boot disks correctly.

Thank you very much.
