Creating copy of backup to another disk

Hi,

I'm backing up with DP51 to a file system which works fine. The second thing I want to do is to create a second copy which is kept off-site and is a file device/disk as well. Instead of running a second backup job that backs up to the off-site device I want to perform some kind of cloning. Is this possible within DP 51 or do I have to synchronize the to folders ??

Thx in advance.

Re: Creating copy of backup to another disk

While you can use dd to do that, you can also use the disk to disk copy tool in DP.

Check the man pages for omnimm

Re: Creating copy of backup to another disk

Will this be done automatically after the backup or do I need to script it ??

Re: Creating copy of backup to another disk

You can put a script for this. I will give some guidelins on how to do this.

1. check the backup session. Check what tape was used and whether backup was successful. (Use omnirpt, omnidb commands for this)

2. If yes, use omnimm to start the disk to disk/tape tape copy.

3. Notify if everything is OK/NOT OK.

Re: Creating copy of backup to another disk

I am testing the Automated Operations at the moment. To see if it works. This gives me the option to "copy" from an original source to a target as well. Is this similar to your solution ??

Re: Creating copy of backup to another disk

By script I meant, putting the script in crontab--automated.

You are thinking on the same lines.
