Look at the manpages for 'crontab' to see that a comma-delimited list is what you want:
# 0,4,8,12,16,20,24,28,32,36,40,44,48,52,56 * * * * /etc/mything
...would run /etc/mything every 4-minutes of every hour of every day of every month.

Note that Linux has initiated some conventions that Unix does not support. The */4 convention you might find on a Linux support board will generally not work.

Note that if you not redirect the oupit/error of the script this is send to the user email and you can see it by elm.
