cstm for memory output for rp8400
When you run something like this:
# echo "selclass qualifier memory;info'wait;infolog" | cstm
It reports the system as having 8 slots in the memory board cell. Extract below.
Memory Board Inventory
CAB/CELL: 0/0
DIMM A DIMM B DIMM C DIMM D
Slot Size (MB) Size (MB) Size (MB) Size (MB)
---- --------- --------- --------- ---------
0 512 512 512 512
1 512 512 512 512
2 512 512 512 512
3 512 512 512 512
4 0 0 0 0
5 0 0 0 0
6 0 0 0 0
7 0 0 0 0
Cell Total (MB): 8192
-------------------------------------------------
System Total (MB): 8192
The problem is that the rp8400 only has 4 slots in a cell carrier and a Superdome has 8 slots. The reason for this is that the PDC revision is the same for both Superdome and rp8400. Be aware that this can give you a false impression if you wanted to install more memory into your server.
I've discussed this with a HP CE and a bug report will be placed. A new version of PDC should be made for the rp8400.
I'm sure this will get moved to the servers forum, but I placed it here so more eyes would see it.
Cheers
Michael

Re: cstm for memory output for rp8400
Not sure Jeff,
I guess the easiest way to tell is to check your PDC revision level is and/or run the command on your rp7405 (providing you have one) and check for the amount/total of RAM against what you think is there. My guess is that it will only have four slots not eight, so if it reports eight, then we have two bugs.... Time for the insecticide?

Re: cstm for memory output for rp8400
From my conversation with HP, they told me that they were using the latest firmware revision and the problem existed.
