D320 crash

We have a D320 running HP-UX 11.00. It has crashed with the error code BF00 on the LCD. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be?

Thanks

Re: D320 crash

BF00 is a system panic.

There is a document called "using q4" in the ITRC that will tell you how to pre-process your dump for HP to troubleshoot it.

One of the steps in that document is to run the command "trace event 0" from the q4> prompt.

If you posted that here, we might be able to find a match if its a known problem.

Otherwise you will likely need to open a SW call with the HP Response Center.

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/components/FileAttachment/0,,0xb9b814a24fd1d4118fef0090279cd0f9,00.htm#Category%20B

is a list of D-Class error codes.

Bxxx indicates OS panics, but I see no BF00.

When did it crash? During boot? Will it come up?

Jon -- BF00 and B800 are generally synomous codes for "system panic".

Re: D320 crash

what does your /etc/shutdownlog say?
is there any crashdump saved under /var/adm/crash? if so, what does the panic string in hte INDEX file say?

Re: D320 crash

Thanks for all the requests for additional information. The panic has been diagnosed to a faulty DLT drive in our tape library. /var/adm/syslog/syslog was reporting a lot of SCSI: Unexpected Disconnect -- lbolt errors. Removing the DLT drive from the SCSI chain has stopped the panics.

Thanks all.
