Minimal 64-bit HP-UX with Networking
I have a K460 with this in the swlist. Does anyone know what a Minimal system entails??? What is missing??? Where did this come from?? Should I just start over with a regular 11.0 install (not my first choice)?? HELP!!

Re: Minimal 64-bit HP-UX with Networking
Hi Paula:
If I recall correctly, a "minimal" install excludes CDE and a number of libraries and filesets that you probably want to install the Ansi C compiler and other goodies. If you have just done the cold-install, I would simply start over and install the normal, full-complement of the OS.
Regards!

Re: Minimal 64-bit HP-UX with Networking
Miimal system probably has no man pages and and only the bare essentials to build a new kernel. If this will be a production server, start over...you'll save an enormous amount of time later as you add missing pieces one at a time.

Re: Minimal 64-bit HP-UX with Networking
Hi,
Although I'm walking in rare company here, I'll step up & be heard....
If I remember correctly this is the OE that has absolutely no bells & whistles. It only has support for bare-bones HP-UX with the only add-on being Apache IIRC.
So there are no premiums like OnLine JFS, Mirror-UX, VxVM (of any kind), Service Guard, etc, etc.
So ABSOLUTELY no pieces you'd REALLY want in an Enterprise scenario.
So to make a long story short - follow the above advice - you need AT LEAST Enterprise OE & preferrably Mission Critical OE for the important stuff. Reload my friend, reload...but it'll probably cost you $.
HTH,
Jeff
