D380 and 64-port MUX card
I can't get "insf -e" to create device special files on HPUX 11.00/32 bit OS. Details are:
partial ioscan:
ba 2 8/20/5 eisa SCAN BUS_NEXUS EISA Bus Adapter
tty 3 8/20/5/8 eisa_mux0 SCAN INTERFACE EISA card HWP1520
/dev/diag/mux3 /dev/diag/mux3_2
/dev/diag/mux3_1 /dev/mux3
partial swlist:
HPUXEng32RT B.11.00 English HP-UX 32-bit Runtime Envi
ronment
J2483A B.11.00.03 EISA RS-232 MUX Software
with patch PHCO_23930.
The card is seen and configured by eisa_config
utility.
/etc/uucp/Devices partial entry:
Direct tty3a1 - 9600 direct
Direct tty3a2 - 9600 direct
Direct tty3a3 - 9600 direct
.....This continues for up to tty3a15(16 ports/panel).
Running "insf -e" gives partial listing:
insf: Installing special files for eisa_mux0 instance 3 address 8/20/5/8
I should get 64 other tty ports here. What am I doing wrong?!?
Thank you.
Regards,
gerald

Re: D380 and 64-port MUX card
Gerald,
Are /dev/diag? the only device files you get for the MUX card?
The message from the insf is normal, you do not see an output from every device file.
Did you try to remove all special file for the hardware address and recreate them? (rmsf -H 8/20/5/8 ; insf -e -H 8/20/5/8)

There is no good troubleshooting with bad data
