EMS / FC Adapter error messages
1) Under intense disk i/o (glance shows 100% disk utilization). I receive and EMS event complaining that:
"Adapter at hardware path 1/12/0/0 : Fibre Channel Driver has been taken
offline due to user request"
2) At another time, after rebooting the box, I receive the following EMS event:
"Summary:
Adapter at hardware path 1/12/0/0 : Target WWN no longer acceptable "
In both cases, by the time I can type in the fcmsutil command to check things out, it reports no problems.
Any ideas?

Re: EMS / FC Adapter error messages
For event 26 I recommend to install Fibre Channel driver B.11.00.05 or later (from http://software.hp.com).

I believe so - which are you referring to specifically?

Re: EMS / FC Adapter error messages
I used to get many of these messages from variuos servers. Updating EMS and the GPC firware has eliminated them.

Re: EMS / FC Adapter error messages
My N4000s and L2000s are at GPC firmware level A.01.09. My EMS is at 3.10 (although some of the sub-catagories say 3.20). The EMS I think was more instrumental in eliminating the problems. However, the new EMS had new support for Superdome and my servers started reporting a couple of problems that only exist on Superdomes (like fans not working). So I had to edit the table of error messages and change it so EMS wouldn't report the false Superdome errors. After all that it is pretty quite now.

Re: EMS / FC Adapter error messages
Hey - hate to ask, but how did you come up with what firmware you're at?

Re: EMS / FC Adapter error messages
drop off and re-join the system. What it came down to it, in my case was that the GLM's on the fiber cards were recalled from HP. If your cards are a little older, you may want to check that option out.

Re: EMS / FC Adapter error messages
Is this machine connected directly to the Mass storage device (EMC or XP256 or XP512) or is the fibre connection going to through a FC hub. I have seen this problem occur mostly on the older cards FC cards and in my case the problem seems to have been solved upon replacing the card. I don't have the card numbers handy but I could send it to you tomorrow if there is a need.
