daemons FAILS

Hi
I have done a fresh install of 3 rp2430 servers. OS is HP-UX 11.11, Base OS.

When booting I get 3 "FAIL" at the "startup in progress" screen from each server.

EGConvert daemon FAIL
VJE -r daemon FAIL
kks daemon FAIL

Anyone who know about this daemons ?

Re: daemons FAILS

Hi Leif,

EGConvert & VJE are for Asian language support - Japanese specifically.

Not sure about kks, but I would speculate it's also for some sort of language support (Korean?).

So I'd say if you don't need these languages you could disable these daemons from starting.

HTH,
Jeff

Re: daemons FAILS

Find out what they are by looking at what's firing them up in /sbin/init.d and /etc/rc.config.d.

They aren't in my systems, so it sounds like its something added to your systems.

Re: daemons FAILS

Jeff is correct and kks is part of the Asian support module also. If I am not mistaken the deamon deals with how input devices (like keyboard) are defined to support localized languages. Do a "man kks" or "man kkstat" for more details.

Re: daemons FAILS

Thank you
This seems to have something to do with languages. I searced the config directorys for this words and could not find anything. Then I rebooted the server. This time I get no errors (and none of this daemons was started).

When the system come up for the first time after installation I get a question about "removing additional languages". I remowed evrything. Then when the booting continued I got the errors. But this seems only appears at the first boot, next time they are gone.
