DDC query utility for HP-UX 11?

We are deploying various HP-UX workstations running HP-UX 11 (C200, C240, C360, C3000, J5000, J5600, etc...). The existing workstations have 21" monitors. The new workstations have 24" wide screen monitors. We can't differentiate monitor size by model since some C3000's/J5[60]00's have 21" monitors and some have the new 24" monitors. I would like a way to dynamically determinte the size of the monitor so I can put something in a post-ignite script that will set the resolution correctly.

The only thing I can think of would be to find a UNIX (VESA) DDC query utility that would query the monitor via the DDC channel to determine it's characteristics. Does anyone know of something like this in binary form or source code form for HP-UX 11?

Of course any other ideas on how to accomplish this would be welcome.

Thanks,

I think that only the xterminals do DDC negotiation.. the workstations I presume can too. It would be an X option in either case.. man X.
You might want to have a look around in SAM on the display just to see if there's an option.
