DDS-3 tape drive connect problem

I have connected a DDS-3 tape drive(C6364A) to D250/2 server this morning. The SCSI ID of tape drive is 4, but when I restart the server, i can not find that drive on the list. Can someone advise me what is the reason?

Re: DDS-3 tape drive connect problem

Have you loaded the drivers for the controller and the for the DDS-3 drive. It should be on one of your Applications CDs.
nothing wrong with me that a few lines of code cannot fix!

Re: DDS-3 tape drive connect problem

Id could be a SCSI-problem. What type is the SCSI-Controller (SCSI 1-4), wide or narrow, differential? Tapedrives normale use narrow SCSI 2 SE. The SCSI-Cable must be short and terminated.

Re: DDS-3 tape drive connect problem

Make sure you have the stape drive loaded into your kernel.

Failing that, its not connected properly or the tape drive isnt working.

Re: DDS-3 tape drive connect problem

Have you connected this drive to the built-in Single Ended SCSI port on your D250? Your attached ioscan list indicates that this is the only suitable SCSI bus on your server (8/16/5).

Have you also got a SCSI terminator installed in the second SCSI port on the tape drive?

If yes to the above then I can only think that the drive must be faulty.
