Re: DDS3

As far as actually seating the drive in your machine I don't have any documentation, once you have the hardware in place here is a document that goes thru the driver and kernel configuration.

Re: DDS3

Is the internal tape drive ?

Shutdown the system if you haven't already.

Install the drive, and boot your system. Run 'ioscan 'fn' on boot and see if the hardware is recognised at hardware path 8/16/x.x.x. If it is and is displays 'unknown' under the driver column, you need to and have the 'stape' driver installed into your kernel. I'm sure the document linked by Jim, will have the kernel procedures.

Re: DDS3

irbaboon,

Unsure if you are seeking advice on the install of physical device or software config for the device.

If its the physical side then below are some general guidelines for physical installation of the DDS drive :-

1) Prepare Installation of DDS Device
Antistatic Precautions, Physical defects,
gathering tools and accessories.

2) Understand Rules for Peripheral Upgrade
You need to refer to system install
manual for internal peripheral install
notes.

3) Setting of DDS Device Config Settings
Eight Swicth DIP on bottom of drive

4) Setting SCSI Address
Default address specific for 800/700 systems

5) Installing the DDS Device
Need to obtain Internal Peripherals Guide
for your system, & follow precisely.

6) Config & verify the device
reference material in System Admin Tasks
manual & above guide.

Hope this helps
